What We Believe

The convictions beneath everything the foundation does.

The foundation stands in the historic Christian faith — the faith once for all delivered to the saints, confessed by the church through the centuries, and grounded in the Scriptures.

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible, in its Old and New Testaments, is the written Word of God — breathed out by the Holy Spirit, infallible and without error, and the only sufficient, certain, and final authority for all of faith and life. It is through the Scriptures that God makes Himself and His gospel known.

God

We believe in one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in power and glory: the Creator and Sustainer of all things, perfectly holy, just, and full of steadfast love, who works all things according to the counsel of His own will, for His own glory.

Jesus Christ

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ — fully God and fully man — conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross bearing the sins of His people, rose bodily from the grave, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will come again in glory.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

1 Corinthians 15:3–4

Salvation

We believe that all people are sinners, dead in trespasses and unable to save themselves, and that salvation is God’s gift from first to last — by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Before the foundation of the world God chose a people for Himself in Christ; in time He calls them effectually by His Spirit, justifies them through faith apart from works, adopts them as His children, and sanctifies them. In the gospel, life and salvation are freely offered to all: no one can earn it, and whoever comes to Christ will never be cast out.

Perseverance

We believe that those whom God has accepted in His Son can neither totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace, but shall certainly persevere to the end and be eternally saved — kept not by their own strength, but by the power of God through faith.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit gives new life, dwells in every believer, opens the Scriptures to our understanding, and equips the church for its work of witness and service.

The Church and Its Ordinances

We believe the church is the body of Christ, made up of all who trust in Him, gathered in local congregations of visible saints to worship God. Christ has given His church two ordinances: baptism — the immersion of believers in water upon their profession of faith — and the Lord’s Supper, in remembrance of Him until He comes.

The Church’s Mission

We believe the church is sent to make disciples of all nations. The Great Commission is not a suggestion but a command — and supporting those who carry it out is our particular calling.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

Matthew 28:19–20

The Hope to Come

We believe Jesus Christ will return in glory, that the dead will be raised, and that all will stand before the judgment seat of God — the wicked to everlasting punishment, and the righteous, clothed in Christ’s righteousness, to everlasting life in the new creation, where God will make all things new. Until that day, we work, give, and pray — so that the message may reach the ends of the earth.

Our Confession

For a fuller account of these convictions, the foundation holds to the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), the historic confession of Reformed Baptist churches.
